第4集:赵一平敲诈明轩

郝明轩在院子里面冒雨练武，他多年以来一直想报复秦家，如今秦家在渡边的算计下惹上麻烦，但他却无一丝喜悦感。

赵一平发送一封电报给郝明轩，在电报中向郝明轩要钱，郝明轩参与了陷害秦家，如果他不给钱，赵一平就揭发他。

渡边得知赵一平的小人行为，向郝明轩表示一定会惩治赵一平。郝明轩与陈香的弟弟陈俊喝酒，陈俊知道姐姐陈香是郝明轩的心上人，他意味深长提起姐姐陈香喜欢秦天义，不过，姐姐陈香最终要嫁给秦天义的哥哥秦天恩。

陈俊对郝明轩的妹妹郝明娟一往情深，平时有事没事就买生活用品给郝明娟。陈俊的好意换来的是郝明娟的冷漠，郝明娟希望陈俊以后不要经常买东西给她。

秦大爷上门拜访张都统，欲在张都统的帮助下洗清秦家商队运军火的冤案。张都统明哲保身无意卷入到秦家冤案，借病不肯见秦大爷。

张都统不帮忙，秦天义若返回家中必然被警方逮捕，秦大爷无奈之下写信给千里之外的孙子秦天义，叮嘱秦天义暂时不要回家，与陈香等人寻找一处安全庇护场所。秦天义本想在教堂住下去，来叶觉得教堂不安全，秦天义决定去乌云格格家暂住，乌云格格求之不得喜出望外。

秦家惹上了大祸，秦大爷一筹莫展。郝明娟从秦大爷手里接过秦天义兄弟三人合影的相片，秦大爷让郝明娟评论一下秦氏三兄弟的为人。郝明娟觉得秦天义和秦天恩如同刘备和曹操，相比之下，秦天仁简直就是一个草包。秦大爷怒其不争，将其形容为扶不起的阿斗。

多年以来，秦家媳妇翠喜一直在佛堂内吃斋念佛，为丈夫秦镇雄惹下的祸事赎罪。秦大爷去佛堂看完儿媳翠喜，两人感概万分提起多年以前陈郝两家的血案。当年秦镇雄酒后失言，导致陈家和郝家惨遭血洗，郝明娟兄妹和陈香姐弟成了无家可归的孤儿，获得秦大爷收养，秦大爷一直想向后辈们透露秦家与陈郝两家的恩怨。
